Ahmed Al Derei is a Space Policy and Legislation Specialist at the UAE Space Agency. At the beginning of his career, he worked as a space technology researcher at the IAEA, where he contributed to the development of the space science and technology policy that identifies the most important strategic space technologies for the country. He also followed up on a number of strategic space projects with the team. In addition to assuming the duties of project manager of the UAE Meteor Observation Network in cooperation with the Sharjah Academy for Space and Astronomy Science and Technology, which monitors meteorites and meteorites in the country, where the project resulted in Publishing many researches in this field in addition to training national cadres in the field of research and development and spreading awareness of the importance of space technologies.
Ahmed currently directs the Space Economic Zones Project, which aims to enable entrepreneurs in the UAE and the region to establish their own space companies through space zones in the UAE that support the growth of these companies, in addition to opportunities to advertise and promote their products and share space facilities in cooperation with strategic partners.
Ahmed played a key role in organizing the Abu Dhabi Space Dialogue, which was organized by the Agency under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, President of the UAE.
Ahmed Al Derei holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and a Master's degree in Systems Engineering from Tokyo University of Technology in Tokyo, Japan. In addition to being fluent in Arabic and English, Ahmed is fluent in Japanese
