TRAINING AFFILIATIONS WILL EMERGE FROM THE SHOW, SAYS UAE MINISTER FOR HIGHER EDUCATION

release date: 16th November 2009

The UAE Minister for Higher Education, His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan said a number of training affiliations will emerge from the Dubai Airshow 2009, currently running at the Airport Expo Dubai.

Touring the show Sheikh Nahyan said a highly trained and skilled cadre of technology professionals is essential to the country as it looks to build an indigenous aerospace industry.

"The lifespan of technology seems to be getting ever shorter and this show helps us stay abreast of its advancement across all aviation segments. We are having talks at the show to progress training affiliations and which will definitely result in collaboration agreements. This, of course, is necessary as the UAE steadily progresses its own solid human resource infrastructure of aviation and aerospace professionals," said Sheikh Nahyan.

The Minister went on to praise the organisation of the show, which runs until November 19 and is the 11th and largest in the biennial series, and spoke of its role in reinforcing the country’s worldwide standing.

"We are fortunate to have this show in the UAE and the increase in exhibitors and the number of countries they come from has very clear and strong implications of their trust in this country and this region's economy," he said.

Sheikh Nahyan then took to the controls of the 787 Dreamliner simulator on the Boeing stand which boasts a console virtually identical to that of the widebody, twin-engined jet airline which is due to have its first test flight later this year. With Boeing's simulator manager Dave Guerra guiding him, Sheikh Nahyan carefully negotiated the 'Dreamliner' through Seattle’s landscape to a successfull landing.
